The Children’s Museum (125) - (in Tucson)

Our next visit was to the Children’s Museum and Chantelle would like to again recount our visit there:

“Today we went to the Children’s Museum and when we got there, we paid the entrance fee and turned left into the computer room.

It had a touch screen on the floor that when you walk on it, insects like ants, scorpions and other bugs move around. There was another display on the wall that had a lot of small square screens that are different colours. You had to look for yourself on one of the squares and you could email a video any one of the squares to anyone.
The next room was a train room that you could go inside a pretend train and ring the bell. Then we went into a room with a small variety of subjects, such as nursing a child, looking at X-rays, hearts, healthy diets and dancing. I liked the dancing part most in this room because it had a dance mat that we played on.

The vet room was next. In this room you got to look after a toy pet and feed it. There were dogs, cats and other animals. After the vet room was a dinosaur room that had a HUGE front half of a T-Rex that MOVED! It scared me a lot.

The next room was an underwater room. It had all types of fish and a submarine. The submarine was cool because we got to sit inside it and push buttons. The submarine room was connected to an art and maze room. In that room there is a little maze that we went through. It was fun but quite easy.

In the art part of the room were easels, tables and a glow room. I drew some pictures on some paper then went into the glow room. The glow room is basically a dark room that has special boards on each side of the walls with magic glow pens that were hanging from a thin piece of rope. The pens are magic because when you aim them on the boards, it draws a line or whatever movement you did with your hand.

The last room was a fire fighter’s and police equipment room. It had a fire-truck and a police motorbike. I got to sit on the motorbike and push buttons so that the sirens turned on. I also got to wear a fire fighter’s jacket and gloves while sitting in the fire-truck.

The Children’s Museum was fun. I loved it.”
ENDS

Following the museum we had lunch at a nearby Mexican restaurant where we discussed and decided the place for our next venture - Biosphere 2 was chosen and we still had time that afternoon.

Its location is a 45 minute drive north of Tucson and on the way we passed by the area in which the Governor Gabrielle Giffords and 18 other people were shot a few days prior. Unfortunately, 6 people were killed including a 9 year old girl during this “meet and greet the Governor”. However, despite being shot in the head at point blank range, the Governor was not killed. The bullet entered through her forehead just above the eye and exited behind her ear.

At the time of writing this blog, two weeks has passed since the shooting and the Governor has improved so much, she was able to give a ten minute neck massage to her husband, although they are yet to establish the extent of her brain damage. A 22 year old man is in custody, awaiting mental assessment and trial.
