Setting the trip

This is home in Sydney where planning of our trip to the USA, Canada, Alaska, Europe and Asia has been compiled, modified, re-configured again and again for over a year.

Our travels will start on August 19th, after (we hope - GO Nona!!) we become proud grandparents again, this time for Nona and Colin's first baby.

We fly to LA for a night then Dallas to move in to our Chev and 5th wheeler. I'm quietly nervous about the first few weeks because living in a confined space 24/7 for the next 8 months will need attitude changes - mine particularly. I just have to learn how to ignore the girls arguing while I get used to driving the new rig!

Hopefully the vehicles will be ready when we arrive in Dallas and we'll only need a few days loading up, buying all our sleeping, eating and living stuff, then a quick drive of 3500+ kms(under position number 73 on the above map) through to Seattle to arrive in time to join our cruise to Alaska, sailing on Sept 4th.

After the cruise we're off to Canada through Vancouver to Banff to visit Kristy and David (my daughter and son-in-law) for a few days. Then Calgary and into northern USA through Montana to point number 24 (just south of Seattle) to start heading down the USA Coastal Highway.

Our plan is to have Xmas in Las Vegas and finish in Toronto early April 2011 to spend time with Lauren, David and Seth (daughter-in-law, son and grandson). They're moving into their new home towards the end of August this year in Grimsby, on the shores of Lake Ontario and have enough room for us to leave our rig there while we head off to Europe, returning in June.

Lisa, Gordon and Mitchell Bryan (family friends) arrive in Toronto on April 19th, stay the night then the Bryans and travelling Lowthers fly to London.
